Relaunch NZZ Digital

Highly reputed Swiss daily newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung went online with a completely refurbished website.

Meire und Meire developed the conceptual basis for information architecture with the designated NZZ in-house team led by Dr. Peter Hogenkamp (Director Digital Media, NZZ) and supplied the user interface.

Online presence and a so-called “web paper” for desktop PCs and mobile devices were designed in parallel. A central requirement was to create a suitable visual language for the digital space of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

The focus of the project is a comprehensive technical reorganisation and creative groundwork, along the lines of the complex editorial convergence project of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung managed by Markus Spillmann (Director Journalism, Editor-in-chief, NZZ).

The aim is to create an adaptive system which distributes the existing and new media formats of the NZZ across multiple devices, optimally supports the tasks of the editorial departments and provides the corresponding interfaces for new journalistic features, payment models and community building.
